Ultrasonogram
An Ultrasonogram (USG) or ultrasound is an imaging test that uses sound waves to make pictures of organs, tissues, and other structures inside your body. An USG is a non-invasive procedure which is used for diagnostic as well as therapeutic purposes.
During the pregnancy, serial ultrasound is to be done starting from Dating Scan (7 - 11weeks), Aneuploidy Scan (11 - 14 weeks), Anomaly Scan (18 - 24 weeks), Growth Scan (28 - 36 weeks).
Pregnant mothers are recommended to test these for fetal wellbeing, so that we can diagnose fetal problems at the early stage and action accordingly. In case of infertility, Serial monitoring of follicular growth is done. For UB/DUB, USG is used to diagnose Uterine problems such as Fibroids, Adenomyosis, Endometriosis etc.
Since the procedure can't produce high quality images, any suspected abnormalities need to be confirmed with other tests which are taken care of by specialists at Lakshmi Fertility Centre.
